Scroll Pocket is "world's most compact" tablet, but is it even a tablet at that size?

scroll-pocket.jpgWhen is a tablet not a tablet? When it’s the size of a smartphone, that’s when.

That hasn’t stopped Storage Options from branding their new Scroll Pocket device “the world’s most compact” tablet at just 4.3 inches across (113mm x 76mm x 12mm). However, with the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 smartphone featuring a screen measuring 5.5-inches across, the line here is well and truly blurred.

The Scroll Pocket looks a tidy device in its own right though. Weighing 128grams, it comes with 4GB of internal memory, which can be expanded to 32GB with a micro SD card. There’s also a mini USB port that allows users to connect other peripheral devices, such as mini keyboards or speakers.scroll-pocket-2.jpg“We are always looking to try and diversify our range and the Scroll Pocket provides something different to the rest of our products,” said Paul Evison, head of brand for Storage Options.

“At only 4.3 inches it offers a great alternative to the more traditional sized units and for £49.99 it gives people the opportunity to own a tablet without having to break the bank. We have always said that we want to provide our customers with good quality tablets for an affordable price and I believe the Pocket offers great value for a user of any age.”

At a penny shy of 50 quid, the Scroll Pocket doesn’t cost the Earth if you’re looking to try a tablet-like device for the first time but, baring the lack of call functionality, the experience will likely be closer to using an Android smartphone than a tablet.
