Rovio have officially revealed that the next game in their bird-slinging, pig-crushing mobile gaming franchise will be Angry Birds Star Wars.

Yep, the Force is strong with Angry Birds Star Wars, with the feathered bombers getting a sci-fi makeover, with avian Skywalkers taking on a porky Empire. Levels will be pulled straight from the Star Wars canon, so expect to visit the deserts of Tatooine, as well as a Jenga-like Death Star.

Best of all, it’s release date is just a short jump to lightspeed away, landing on 8 November.

“This is the best Angry Birds game we’ve ever done. It’s the best parts of Angry Birds with all new cutting-edge gameplay set in in a galaxy far, far away,” said Peter Vesterbacka, CMO of Rovio.

“As a big Star Wars fan myself, I’m really excited about this new universe. The Force is definitely strong with this one.”

For the first time in Angry Birds history, the game will land on all major platforms at once, including Windows Phone, Amazon Kindle Fire, Windows 8, Mac and PC, as well as the usual iOS and Android apps.
