Kiefer “Jack Bauer” Sutherland isn’t the sort of person you’d expect to have a passion for baking. But in this latest promo video for Acer’s S5 ultrabook, the TV hard-man discovers his softer, culinary inspired, cupcake crafting side.

It’s the first clip in a major marketing shake-up from Acer, who are looking to really push their latest flagship S5 ultrabook.

The advert (which will play before select movies in cinemas throughout the summer and autumn) is part of a wider campaign that will see other celebrities explore a side of themselves they didn’t realise they had through using the S5.

With the ultrabook market hotting up, Acer have invested heavily in the campaign, employing the hip Mother ad agency to direct the action, the same team who delivered the impressive HTC skydive-fashion shoot adverts.

The 13.3 inch ultrabook itself is looking a promising one. Super-thin and very light at 15mm thick and 1.35kg in weight, it packs in the latest Intel Core i7 Ivy Bridge CPU, as well as a 256GB SSD, both USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt ports and a HDMI port. It’s also got a nifty “MagicFlip” motorised I/O port on the back, keeping all those connections hidden safely away when not in use.
