Samsung-GALAXY-Note-10.1.jpgThe Samsung Galaxy Note was the perfect mobile device for the undecided. It was a tablet. It was a phone. It had a touch screen, but also used a stylus. For those who like their tech a little more clearly defined, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10.1 is a slightly easier sell, being basically a tablet with the Samsung S-Pen stylus. First revealed back in February, it’s just been given an August release date for the UK.

It’s a powerful bit of kit too. The 10-and-a-bit-inches, 1280×800 resolution tablet packs in a 1.4Ghz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and the usual connectivity line-up of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and 3G. A 1.9MP front-facing camera for video calling is included, as is a 5MP rear camera. An IR zapper is an interesting inclusion too, letting you use the slate as a remote control.

A few niggling set backs though see Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, not Jelly Bean, be the out-of-the-box OS, but an over the air update will address that hopefully not too long after launch.
