nikon-1-j2-top.jpgThe Nikon 1 compact system camera range gets an update with the introduction of the Nikon 1 J2. Keeping many of the features that made the original a bestseller, the J2 also adds a Creative Mode for making in-camera tweaks to your photos.

Creative Mode lets you add photography modes, filters and shot settings in the shot preview screen, letting you see the effects your tweaks will have on any photo before it is shot. Some shot styles set for inclusion include portrait, soft filter and easy panorama.

These filters are all easier to check thanks to an improved 3-inch screen. Doubling the resolution of its predecessor to 921k-dots, it’s also brighter.

You again get a 10.1MP CMOS sensor with EXPEED 3 image processing, an advanced hybrid autofocus system (switching between phase detection AF and contrast detection AF), as well as 1080p video recording with the option to take full resolution stills while shooting video.

Video can be set to 60fps if you choose spot focus, while 10 still shots a second can be captured with auto-focus off. The Motion Snapshot Mode also allows for slo-motion video and still images to be captured simultaneously.

Due out on September 6th, the camera will cost £499.99 with the 10-30mm kit lens, or£649.99 for the twin kit, which includes the 30-110mm lens. Six different colours will also be available.
