eos-7d.jpgCanon have released a substantial new firmware update for their EOS 7D DSLR camera. Firmware v2 sees Canon adding in-camera editing of RAW files, better maximum burst settings and the ability to resize JPEGs.

Maximum burst rates now rise to 25 RAW files or 130 JPEGs, with the RAW files now able to be processed and edited in the camera itself, with white balance, sharpness and Picture Style editing options added.

Auto ISO speed limited can now be set by the user between ISO 400 – 6400, with audio for video also improved with 64 manual levels.

Rounding things off are GPS compatibility (with Canon’s own GP-E2), file name customisation options, time zone settings and speedy scrolling of zoomed images.

Three years old now, the new update sees the semi-pro DSLR keeping the pace with newer models.
