Blizzard's Warcraft and Diablo III gamers' details breached in hacking storm
Today Blizzard Entertainment encountered an embarrassing situation in which their internal network’s security measures were breached. Passwords, security question answers, email addresses and encrypted passwords linked to gamers’ accounts are thought to have been stolen by cyber criminals.
Mike Morhaime of Blizzard Entertainment released a statement today saying that their security department had spotted “unauthorized and illegal access” into its system.
“We quickly took steps to close off this access and began working with law enforcement and security experts to investigate what happened,” assured Morhaime.
Morhaime also added that there are at this time no fears that gamers’ financial details had been compromised: “Our investigation is ongoing, but so far nothing suggests that these pieces of information have been accessed.”
