Macbook pro.jpgWe’re just a few hours away from Apple’s WWDC 2012 keynote, and while iOS 6 and the final build of OS X Mountain Lion are dead-certs for inclusion at the showcase event, we’re still crossing our fingers for news on a refresh for the Mac computer family. Now, thanks to “reliable sources” friendly with 9to5 Mac, we’ve been made privy to the rumoured spec sheets of this year’s MacBook Pro and Mac Pro models.

First the MacBook Pros. It seems no super-slim chassis redesign is coming, nor Retina Displays, nor will we see a 17-inch variant revealed today. What follows then are the standard specifications for the off-the-shelf 13.3 and 15.4 inch models, before customised builds are taken into account:

– 13.3 inch: 2.5GHz dual core processor, 4GB of RAM, 500GB hard drive
– 13.3 inch: 2.9GHz dual core processor, 8GB of RAM, 750GB hard drive
– 15.4 inch: 2.3GHz quad core processor, 4GB of RAM, 500GB hard drive
– 15.4 inch: 2.6GHz quad core processor, 8GB of RAM, 750GB hard drive (Buy To Order upgrades to 2.7GHz quad core and 1TB HD will be available)

A bit disappointing, but 9to5 Mac suggest a separate thin-line MacBook Pro (or super-powerful MacBook Air) may still be waiting under wraps.

Next, the long-overdue Mac Pro update. They’re looking a bit like this according to the rumours:

– Normal configuration: 3.2GHz quad-core processor, 6GB of RAM, 1TB hard drive, and the ATI Radeon 5770 graphics chip.
– Normal configuration: 2.4GHz 12-core processor, 12GB of RAM, 1TB hard drive, and the ATI Radeon 5770 graphics chip.
– Server configuration: 3.2GHz quad-core processor, 8GB of RAM, Two 1TB hard drives

Elsewhere, updated AirPort Express, USB SuperDrive, MagSafe connector/adapter and Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter accessories are all also expected to be revealed at the showcase.

The WWDC 2012 keynote kicks off at around 6PM GMT. We’ll have all the news straight away, so check back to Tech Digest tonight for more.
