LG have just revealed one of the lushest mobile displays the planet has ever seen.

A 5-inch display using Advanced High Performance In-Plane Switching (AH-IPS) technology for quick response times, improved brightness and wide viewing angles, it has a full 1080p HD resolution.

Not only that, but it has an incredibly high pixel density, squeezing in 440ppi. Compare that to the iPhone’s 326ppi Retina Display (in a screen just 3.5 inches, remember) and it makes for one of the sharpest displays on the market.

“As smartphones become increasingly valued for how well they do multimedia and with the rapid growth of LTE enabling faster large file transfers, our new 5-inch Full HD LCD panel is certain to prove a significant asset to the mobile market,” said Sang-Deok Yeo, CTO and Executive Vice President of LG Display.

“With the world’s highest resolution smartphone display, LG Display continues to remain a step ahead in developing the most innovative in display technology products.”

LG’s screen will make its début at SID 2012 Display Week in Boston starting next Monday, with LG hoping to have the technology in a phone before the end of the year.
