It’s official: the Master Chief will be heading back to the Xbox 360 in Halo 4 on November 6th.

After a series of teaser trailers and tweets from Microsoft’s Major Nelson pointing towards a release date reveal on tonight’s Conan O’ Brien show, 343 Studios and Microsoft have finally lifted the lid on when the game will land.

“We are beginning a new saga with ‘Halo 4’ and embarking on a journey that will encompass the next decade of ‘Halo’ games and experiences,” said Phil Spencer, corporate vice president of Microsoft Studios.

“Millions of fans worldwide have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to step back into the boots of Master Chief, and, with ‘Halo 4’ leading the charge, we’re confident 2012 will be the most successful year in Xbox history.”

A whole decade’s worth of Halo games being pencilled in huh? Seems like the Xbox 720 already has its poster boy lined up…
