Mario-Wii-U.jpgNintendo have confirmed that a new Mario game will be on show at this summer’s E3 gaming conference, headlining the new Wii U console’s software range.

While a new Mario game to go along with a new Nintendo console is hardly a surprise, Nintendo have at least offered up some useful details on what to expect from the game, revealing that it’s a continuation of the New Super Mario Bros. sidescrolling series.

“In a recent interview, Mr. Miyamoto confirmed that a new Super Mario Bros. game for the Wii U system will be shown at this year’s E3 Expo,” a Nintendo representative said.

“This is based on the Mario experience that was demonstrated at last year’s E3 Expo. We’ll have more to announce about our plans for the E3 Expo at a later date.”

The demo referenced by the Nintendo rep showed four gamers playing alongside each other in a 2D title similar to the Wii’s New super Mario Bros. The big difference was the use of the Wii U’s innovative tablet controller’; each player had their own personal view of the action on the controller’s smaller screen, with a larger overview of the game world presented on the TV.

We’ll have more news on the Wii U and it’s related games come the summer E3 gaming conference, so keep your eyes peeled for more news.
