Nokia Play To beta app brings DLNA capabilities to WP7 Lumia range, select Symbian handsets

Nokia have just lifted the lid on a new beta app that lets you use their Windows Phone 7 Lumia range and other Symbian handsets to beam videos, music and pictures wirelessly to your web-connected smart TV.

“Nokia Play To lets you show photos and videos taken with your mobile to your friends wirelessly on your TV,” reads the Nokia description.

“Just launch Play To, select the device and media you want to play. No configuration is needed once WLAN is on and all devices are connected to the same network.”

Basically a DLNA client, early reports suggest it’s handling particularly well on Windows Phone 7 devices, though Nokia are a little late to the game considering LG have offered similar features since 2010 in their Windows-branded handsets.
