"Dawnguard" to be the first Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim expansion?

skyrim 2.jpgI won’t lie; despite my love of Skyrim, the thought of delving back into the icy tundras of Bethesda’s epic open-world RPG sends a shiver down my spine. Well over 100 hours did I pour into that game, and I’m just beginning to piece back together the friendships lost in the process.

And yet here I am, staring at news regarding a potential expansion pack heading to the Elder Scrolls V, and I’m already thinking of whether my Daedric armour is up the task.

Bethesda have given the strongest hint yet as to what the first fully-fledged expansion pack for Skyrim may be, with their parent company ZeniMax Media filing a trademark for “Dawnguard” under the “downloadable software” category.

Of course it’s all rumour and speculation at this point, but there’s plenty of links to stuff already hidden in Skyrim, such as the town of Dawnstar and its “Pieces of the Past” quest that focusses on a museum dedicated to The Order of the Mythic Dawn.

Other sources are pointing to the possibility of a new Bethesda mobile title too set in the Elder Scrolls universe. We’ll keep you posted.
