apple-vs-samsung-2.jpgFollowing a string of earlier lawsuits, Apple are now taking Samsung to court in the UK too.

Apple filed the court order earlier in the week, with the two electrical giants at loggerheads over some 20 patent disputes. It is as-yet-unknown which patents this latest courtroom showdown is in relation to, though Samsung claim that this latest turn of events is a countersuit against one of their own patent defences against Apple.

Apple’s attacks on Samsung have already had a big impact this summer. The release of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 was greatly limited across Europe due to a successful injunction brought on by Apple’s legal teams.

Despite both companies clambering for space on top of the smartphone and tablet markets, it’s in both Apple and Samsung’s best interests to remain civil at least to some extent. Apple rely heavily on Samsung’s chip manufacturing plants for components in the iPhone 4 and iPad devices, and Samsung surely would not want to lose such a lucrative contract.

Neither, however, appreciate being made to look the copycat of the other.
