The Galaxy R has officially been welcomed into the Samsung smartphone stable, after a joint statement from Sammy and chip makers Nvidia revealed that the handset is “coming soon” to North and Eastern Europe, South East and West Asia, Middle East Asia, and China.

The Gingerbread phone has been rumoured for a few months now, and finally the specs can be confirmed.

Under the hood is a dual-core Tegra 2 processor from Nvidia, supporting a 4.2 inch Super Clear LCD touchscreen, a 5MP camera on the back and a 2MP front facing offering. 8GB of onboard storage is included with support for microSD expansion, while 720p video capture is possible, with 1080p playback.

  • I wish metro pcs would get some better phones instead of the cheap high price knock offs

  • I would name your blog the dreamland! While Santa knocks at our door just once per year, you blog is open the whole year – wow!

  • I really just want the Galaxy SII I have seen reviewed on multiple tech sites, I don’t want anything changed on it, give me the same Exynos processor, same body design, and the same 3g speeds. If they want to sell a a phone with different specs then sell it as a different phone. I love what I have read about this phone thus far and have been waiting for almost a year to replace my original droid, I don’t want to make extra for LTE, speed I would rarely take advantage of. Just sell what you have already advertised Samsung.
