Shopping for an Android tablet on a tight budget? Then you’re unlikely to find yourself a better deal than that offered by ASDA today. They’re selling the 8-inch Arnova 8 tablet for just £99, a price low enough to let you slip it into your trolley without your other half protesting too much at the till.

Running Android 2.1, it comes complete with 4GB of internal memory, expandable via SDHC cards, and has built in Wi-Fi, though no 3G.

Battery life is good for 25 hours of music playback according to the release, with an 800×600 TFT screen within an 20.5 x 1.2 x 15.3 cm chassis.

“It’s absolutely amazing what can be packed in to this fantastic Arnova tablet,” says ASDA’s tech expert Alex Crowe.

“Tonnes of books and music, email, Internet browsing, games and much, much more – and it only weighs ounces. It really is the perfect holiday gadget and at this fantastic price it can’t be beaten.”

Those looking for silky smooth dual-core processing or tablet-optimised Honeycomb versions of Android have no place in ASDA’s budget fold, but if you’re counting the pennies and would still like a half decent tablet to play with, that price tag is quite the bargain.
