iphone-5-thumb-2.jpgApple’s quarterly sales call has lead to the biggest hint as to the launch date of the iPhone 5 we’ve had yet. And rather than being a sketchy anonymous source from an eastern components manufacturer, this revealing tidbit came straight from the horse’s mouth itself; Apple CFO Peter Offenheimer.

Speaking in a conference call with investors and press members following the quarterly finanical review, Offenheimer practically spelled out that the iPhone 5 will be touching down in September.

“As we announced at WWDC, we have a lot going on in the fall with the introduction of iOS 5 and iCloud. We also have a future product transition that we’re not going to talk about today, and these things will impact our September quarter,” said the Apple chief.

Future product transition, eh? As in the transition one would make from an iPhone 4 to its overdue successor, the iPhone 5? We’d say so.

Lining up well with previous reports of supply chain and component shipments, it looks like the Apple circus will be rolling into town with a bang again this Autumn.

  • “Future Product Transition” in Apple Speak does not mean “new product”

It means, Apple has to spend a lot of money to bring in a new product, the way it did in 2008 when it introduced the “Unibody” Macs.
