Amazon preparing to ship 4 million Android tablets by Christmas

amazon-tablet-android.jpgThe Amazon Android tablet rumours push into a higher gear today, with the news that the e-reader kings may be preparing to ship as many as 4 million of the as-yet-unrevealed slates.

According to supplier trackers DigiTime, Amazon have Wintek, J Touch and CPT lined up to produce touch displays for two Amazon tablets, each with a different NVIDIA processor. The same source claims that 4 million unit shipment stat, which would suggest Amazon are going to make a genuine push for Apple’s tablet crown.

According to previous reports, a 7inch tablet called the “Coyote” and a 10 inch model called the “Hollywood” are in the works. The smaller of the two will pack a Tegra 2 processor, while the Hollywood will rock the monstrous quadcore NVIDIA Kal-El chip.
