nintendo-3ds-black.jpgAfter a slow start for the Nintendo 3DS console, this week finally seems to find the glasses-free 3D handheld getting into the swing of things. Firstly, you have the launch of the console’s first killer-app, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, and that’s now followed by news that Japanese owners from tomorrow will be able to enjoy 3D television shows on the 3DS.

Downloading an app called “Itsu no Ma ni Terebi” from the eShop, Japanese 3DS owners will have access to programming from Fuji Television and Nippon Television. All content will be free, but will feature adverts.

These initial 3D shows will then be supplemented by content from other sources, including a sports show every Saturday and Sunday.

The rest of the world is also to get 3D shows on the 3DS in due course, though when exactly that will be is yet to be revealed. While deals with Sky and Aardman Animation are already in place in the UK, right now there’s little 3D content on the store beyond the Green Lantern movie trailer.
