10 inch BlackBerry PlayBook to make way for QNX phone instead?

playbook-top.jpgRIM are rumoured to be ditching the planned 10-inch BlackBerry PlayBook, despite its expected launch a little later this week. Its possible replacement? A smartphone packing the PlayBook’s QNX operating system.

Reports suggest that it will be a 4.3 inch device with a “900+” resolution, using the same single-core 1.2GHz processor seen in the BlackBerry Bold 9900.

While much of QNX’s power lies in its harnessing of dual-core processors, it is believed that battery limitiations have prevented a dual-core inclusion here.

The 4G 7 inch PlayBook which was also expected to launch this summer is now thought to have slipped back to October instead.
