Sharp AQUOS Phone The Hybrid 007SH: High-end 3D Android, meet clamshell

Clamshell phone designs are usually the reserve of budget feature phones, but Sharp have something very different planned for their flip-friendly AQUOS Phone The Hybrid 007SH. It’s sporting Android version 2.3, as well as a host of impressive, high end features.

As well as obviously having a flip-out numeric pad, the phone also has a 3.4″ WVGA 3D New Mobile ASV touchscreen, a 16.10 megapixel rear camera and 720p video recording.

Yep, you read that right – that’s a 3D screen, and that camera can shoot 3D video and pictures. IN A CLAMSHELL.

Elsewhere you’ve got Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and room for a TV connection, whilst IPX5/IPX7 standard waterproofing make it a sturdier smartphone than most out there at the moment.

Colour us both impressed and surprised; this is probably the coolest clamshell phone ever. A shame then that we’ll probably never see it on UK shores – this is currently a Japan-only handset.
