Multiple sources are claiming that Nintendo are planning to launch a brand new console at the E3 games show this summer.
Game Informer have been told that the console will be designed for home use, making it a likely successor to the popular Wii motion-controlled machine, this time packing in full HD graphical capabilities.
"Nintendo is doing this one right," said one anonymous insider. "[It's] not a gimmick like the Wii."
IGN have also spoken to a source who claims that the console will be fully backwards compatible, meaning the machine would again have to have some sort of motion control scheme.
Apparently significantly more powerful than even the mighty PS3, Nintendo may well even completely re-brand the console in an attempt to win back the hardcore gaming crowd.
Of course Nintendo have not outed the console in response to the rumours, but E3 just got significantly more exciting. We'll keep you posted.
