The iPhone 5 might include a touch-sensitve "smart bezel", according to a newly uncovered patent filed by Apple.
However, this is not merely a case of putting haptic-feedback touch keys into the chasis of the phone. Apple are potentialyl going one better, putting an extraordainary secondary display into the bezel itself that fires up with supplementary controls as needed.
A printed, segmented electroluminescent display would be used to achieve this, opening up vast opportunites for advanced controls in games and apps, and more than justifying the considerable delays we're beginning to expect to see from the usually-annual iPhone launch cycle.
