Three are the latest network provider to announce they too will be selling the long-awaited Sony Xperia Play smartphone. They join Vodafone, Orange and T-Mobile, who will also be selling the handset.

The Xperia Play, AKA the “PSP Phone” , is an Android handset designed specifically with gaming in mind. Not only does it have dedicated hardware gaming controls, but also acess to the newly revealed PlayStation Suite store, a cross platform service that will provide games to the phone as well as the forthcoming Sony NGP handheld console.

Sylvia Chind, Three’s Head of Branded Devices “At Three we’re eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Sony Ericsson Xperia play. We believe this handset celebrates a further step change in the way in which consumers use data, merging mobile communications and entertainment,” said Sylvia Chind, Three’s Head of Branded Devices.

While Three have yet to announce a price or release date, T-Mobile and Orange (under the Everything Everywhere umbrella) have confirmed that they will be selling the handset from April.
