Bloodied dog-tags and teaser site point to Modern Warfare 3 announcement

It’s not often do a set of bloddied dog-tags turn up in the post, but games journalists up and down the country have had the wits scraed out of them when opening mail this morning. Plenty are reporting having been sent them in the post today.

Why? Well we’re not wholly sure yet, but we’ll hazard a guess at a major Modern Warfare 3 announcement touching down next week.

Why do we say that? Well, according to reports each tag has a web address written on them, Makarov sound familiar? If you’ve played Modern Warfare 2 it should, as he Vladimir Makarov was the mentalist leader of the Ultranationalist terror cell that dogged the player in that game.

Firing up the link brings you to a countdown page, which looks to run out next Wednesday. We’re pretty sure all will be revealed then, but it might be time to start saving your pennies for the next shooter installment, as well as an Xbox Live account to bug your pals with too.

  • Fancy Dress

This is a sweet publicity stunt, it’ll only help hype the game…if it needs hyping :o

  • Pants

Modern Warfare 2 was enjoyable but they all seem so shallow compared to Battlefield 2. Looking more forward to Battlefield 3.
