Apple have sent out invites to a media event on March 2nd with imagery that almost certainly suggests the launch of the iPad 2.

The Apple-style calendar image (pictured above) has one corner peeled back, showing the top side of an iPad with the slogan “Come see what 2011 be the year of”.

Yesterday All Things Digital’s Kara Swisher accurately predicted the media event, saying:

“To those who care intensely about this kind of stuff – which would be pretty much everyone in the tech ecosystem – Apple will hold its much-anticipated event on March 2, where the tech giant seems poised to unveil a new version of its hugely successful iPad, according to multiple sources.”

“It’s not clear when Apple will begin sending out its famous invites for the gathering, but I am guessing soon, in order to get the Apple faithful to the proper level of froth,” Swisher added.

Whether it be camera-packing iPads or mini-iPhones, needless to say Tech Digest will have all the news so check back on the 2nd of March to see what Apple have in store for its fans.
