There is nothing worse than having your computer stolen. I know I would be at a complete loss without mine, but did you know your more likely to have it stolen at school then at an airport? Today Absolute Software, a provider of firmware-based, computer theft recovery, data protection, has published a list of the top 10 places computers are stolen from.

The list reveals that consumer computers are more likely to be stolen while at school or home, which makes sense, as this is where most people are using their computers. The list is based on theft reports filed to the Absolute Theft Recovery Team over a one-year period.

“The trends in this list may surprise some computer owners. According to our experience, consumers think ‘it won’t happen to me’ and take chances. They often think of security issues only when they are on the move,” said Mark Grace, vice president of consumer business at Absolute Software.
