facebook-thumb.jpgRemember the slightly troubling news that Facebook wold be offering up your mobile phone number and address details to third party app developers, should you choose to allow it? Well, the world’s leading social network have now backtracked on the plans.

Though the plan was to increase efficiency in third-party apps, internet security experts called the move a “recipe for disaster”, citing the fact that granting permission for the apps to access the sensitive data was not always totally transparent for the casual user.

“Over the weekend, we got some useful feedback that we could make people more clearly aware of when they are granting access to this data,” said Facebook’s Douglas Purdy in a post on the site’s blog.

“We agree, and we are making changes to help ensure you only share this information when you intend to do so. We’ll be working to launch these updates as soon as possible, and will be temporarily disabling this feature until those changes are ready.”

An improved version of Facebook’s initial plans is now expected to touch down in the coming weeks.
