Dead Space

Dead Space co-creator Ian Milham has spoke of the possibility of a Dead Space live action film making it to the silver screen. Though “lots of discussion” has taken place between developers Visceral Games, publishers EA and Hollywood, Milham is keen to prevent his vision being sullied by the desire to make a quick buck from the franchise’s well respected name.

He told BBC Newsbeat: “We would love to have a live action film. But one of the reasons Dead Space still exists and is popular is because we’ve made sure to do everything right.”

He added: “So we’re doing the same with the film, not just a cheap cash-in but to do something really worthwhile, so we’ll see.”

The Dead Space franchise has every right to be an awesome film. Wearing its sci-fi movie influences heavily on its sleeve, it took the best elements of the Resident Evil games and threw them into a terrifying Alien-style scenario.

Dead Space has already been adapted into an animated prequel film called Dead Space: Downfall, with a sequel called Dead Space: Aftermath out later this year. Toys and graphic novels have also spun off from the games.

The latest entry into the videogame series, Dead Space 2, was released last Friday to rave reviews.
