Last year Panasonic unveiled the first ever affordable – ie not costing £100,000 – HD 3D camera. This year it has added three new models to its roster. None of the models are aimed at consumers, well not yet. These are high-end cameras designed to tempt semi-pros and smaller TV companies in to experimenting with HD.

The three models are the HDC-TM900 , HDC-HS900 and HDC-SD800 and all feature 3 MOS image sensor system with 1080/60p recording, Hybrid OIS, Intelligent Auto, and Eco-Mode. They also boast the following

* F1.5 Leica Dicomar lens
* 35mm wide-angle capability
* 20x optical zoom
* Crystal Engine PRO processors
* Hybrid Optical Image Stabilizer
* Intelligent Auto functions
* Record to SDXC/SDHC/SD cards

Key differences are that the HDC-TM900 and HDC-HS900 have five internal mics so they can record in 5.1 channel home cinema formats. Meanwhile the HDC-HS900 has 220GB of hard disk storage space while the other two have smaller storage capacities.

“We expect that the new Full-HD 3MOS camcorders will be our best yet, with image quality that rivals professional video equipment and further advancements on last year’s award-winning predecessors,” said Chris Rice, Senior Product Manager, Imaging, Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company. “The full-HD camcorders not only have that added wow-factor – with 3D video shooting capability – but consumers can also capture amazing 2D videos, easily with our larger, more intuitive touch-screen LCDs.”
