Facebook to announce Gmail killer?

Facebook are expected to announce a brand new email service today that could rival the likes of Google’s Gmail, Microsoft’s Hotmail and Yahoo’s own mail service.

Rumours are suggesting that the massive social network, currently home to over 500 million users, will launch their own email address, @facebook.com . This may also include a full web-based email client.

Relations between Facebook and Google have been growing rather frosty of late, with both parties making sharing contact information across their services increasingly difficult.

Of course, it may just be a slight revamp of the basic messaging service already available to Facebook users. With that said, you dont tend to give a slight revamp a grand codename like “Project Titan”, as this update has been known to Facebook insiders as for quite sometime.
