An intact Apple I kit is set to under the hammer at Christie’s auction house later this month, and is expected to get iFanboys bidding into hundreds of thousands of pounds.

One of only around 40 left in the world, the 1976 kit let early computer enthusiats tinker with making their own operational computer. Granted, it’s as basic a machine as you could get (comprising a ciruit board of 60 chips – you had to add your own display and casing to get the thing to really shine), but collectors are estimating that it could sell for as much as £200,000.

That’s a fair bit more than the original $666.66 asking price.

Hand-built by Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and complete with a signed letter from head-honcho Steve Jobs, you can see why a certain cult of gadget fans will be very interested indeed however.

The auction takes place on Novermber 23rd.
