No more Android 2.2 Froyo tablet from LG

LG logo.jpgLG and Android were all set to become quite familiar bedfellows this year, with 10 Google OS smartphones in the pipeline and a tablet due before then end of 2010. However, their slate device, which has been tipped as “better than the iPad” will now appear a fair bit later. The Froyo build of Android seems to be to blame.

“We plan to introduce a tablet that runs on the most reliable Android version … We are in talks with Google to decide on the most suitable version for our tablet and that is not Froyo 2.2″ said an LG executive.

It suggests that LG are holding out for Android version 3.0, AKA Gingerbread, which Google themselves have stated will be more suited to large screen, high resolution devices. It’s not due for release until late in the year, meaning that LG tablet will almost certainly miss its Q4 2010 projection.
