Fashion chain Next launch Android tablet. No, seriously…

Next Tablet.jpgWhile every tech firm worth their salt is clambering to bring a tablet device to market, we we’re certainly not expecting news of a tablet coming from this company hitting our inbox this morning. No it’s not HTC or LG, but instead high-street fashion outlet Next.

We kid you not.

Of course it’s highly unlikely that the clothing chain have had much input in the manufacturing process of their 10.1 inch Android 2.1 tablet, but it will have their branding all over it when it hits stores later this year.

Here’s a quick look at the specs:

– A backlit LED screen with a 1024×600 resolution
– An ARM 1GHz LNX Code 11 processor
– 256MB or RAM
– 8GB of onboard storage
– Android 2.1
– 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi
– A USB port
– A microSD port
– Stereo speakers

It’s very affordable too at £180, but does only have a 3 hour battery life and a fiddly resistive touchscreen. Click here if you fancy pre-ordering one. Kill two birds with one stone and pick up some socks and pants too whilst you are at it.

Tomorrow we’ll bring you news on the Primark PDA…
