19082010251.jpgPolaroid instant cameras look set to be back in a big way this Christmas. After dropping the line for a few years, the analogue side of the brand is back with Lady Gaga onboard as creative director and a new flagship instant snapper in the shape of the Polaroid 300 Instant Camera. Tech Digest went hands-on.

Though it’s a chunky-bit of kit, the Polaroid 300 is surprisingly light-weight. Gone is the boxy look of the classic models, replaced by a curved finish. There’s also an instant flash built in and four scene-settings to get the most out of your straight-to-print shots. Each picture prints onto Polaroid’s proprietary self-developing film, which uses thermal imaging rather than ink to produce each snap.

It’s a fun little product, that, apart from the new look design, holds true to the feel of the old-school Polaroids. Obviously the basic feature set means you’re not going to get results on a par with a decent compact, but the whole point is that retro white border really, isn’t it?

Available in red, black or blue, you can pick the camera up for £79.99 from Firebox and John Lewis. A ten-pack of Polaroid 300 film will cost £12.99.
