dropbox.jpgBlackBerry users can today sign up for beta tiral runs with the Dropbox app, the cloud-based storage, backup and sharing service that’s already proved popular on the iPhone.

However you’ll have to get in on it quickly. While initial reports suggested a mere 500 public users would be able to enter the testing period, that figure has since risen to a still-paltry 1,000.

Dropbox for BlackBerry allows you to access any files that you have stored on your PC within a designated Dropbox folder from your RIM handset itself. It also lets you upload content straight from your handset to the Dropbox cloud, which can be later pulled onto a PC or left there for safekeeping.

Dropbox can be synced across all your PCs and Macs, creating virtual copies of your files on their website as well as keeping older versions of files you may have edited since initially uploading them.

While there are premium versions available, you’ll get 2GB of free storage from Dropbox before you have to pay anything, so it’s definitely worth trying out, providing you can get in on the beta trials.
