apple guitar.jpgApple have announced that they will be holding a “special event” on September 1st, finally putting a date on their annual Autumnal press conference. The focus each year is on music-focussed devices, and this year seems no exception, with the invite showing an Apple-shaped sound hole cut into an acoustic guitar.

So then, chances are we’re looking at either a new iPod Touch model to be announced as suggested yesterday, or perhaps a touch Nano?

Of course it could in all honesty be anything from the rumoured Apple TV iTV service-revamp to a smaller iPad.

What is very interesting though is the timing of the event; Apple normally choose to reveal their products after the IFA tech show in Berlin, not before. Are Steve Jobs and co. anticipating big news from their rivals, looking to score an early victory before a massive announcement breaks?

We’ll find out next Wednesday at 6pm. Be sure to check back then for all the details.
