ZTE Racer.jpgWho said smartphones have to break the bank? ZTE didn’t, that’s for sure, as they prepare to launch their Racer handset, becoming Three Mobile’s first Android device that’ll give you change back from £100.

Costing £99 without a contract from the carrier, the ZTE Racer sports Android 2.1 (Éclair), and features a 2.8inch QVGA touchscreen, Bluetooth, 3G, 256 MB of memory, and 7.2 Mbps HSDPA compatibility.

“We’re really excited to bring the ZTE Android smartphone into our range,” says Three’s head of internet services, David Kerrigan. “Combining the power of Android and the strength of our 3G network, we’re enabling more and more customers to get a great mobile internet experience at a price that’s right for them”.

It’s not as flashy as a HTC Desire or even a Nexus One, but it’ll be a nice and pocket-friendly introduction to the world of apps and mobile internet for those without the readies for something a little more impressive.
