The Motorola Milestone XT720, the unofficial successor to the Motorola Milestone/Droid, is now available to UK consumers.

While the actual “Milestone 2” is expected to be revealed later in the year, the XT720 remains a very capable phone. Similar in many ways to the Motoroi, it does not feature a hardware QWERTY keyboard, instead opting for a full touchscreen set-up.

That screen is a 3.7 inch number, with a resolution of 480 x 854. It’s running Android 2.1 on an ARM Cortex-A8, 720MHz chip and has 256MB of RAM. It’s also capable of shooting 720p video, with a HDMI output for watching the clips back on a HDTV, while the 8 megapixel still image sensor is paired with a xenon flash and includes geo-location, smile and face detections and auto focus features. In terms of connectivity, you’re looking at HSDPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with A-GPS for use with the phone’s Motonav navigational software.

Pick it up from Play, priced at £359.99. An American seller is also shipping the handset to the UK here. It’s cheaper than Play at £282.23, but expect substantial P+P charges on top.
