x factor logo.jpgHit TV singing contest X Factor is to be made into a string of console games set to hit the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii consoles.

The game of the show, which sees young hopefuls compete in auditions and “sing-offs” for the chance to win a lucrative record contract, will be published by Deep Silver, the games label of Koch Media, and will hit stores this winter.

“To be able to work with a phenomenal brand such as The X Factor is an incredible opportunity,” said Georg Larch, International Marketing Director, Deep Silver. “The X Factor is a truly global brand which is instantly recognisable to thousands of gamers and TV fans around the world.  With the developer, Hydravision Entertainment, Deep Silver will be creating a game that is a true adaptation of the show from the hilarity of the auditions to the excitement of the live show; we will be testing the singing skills of the player and will feature the sharp critique of the judges.”

So what can we expect from the X Factor console game? I think they’d be missing a trick to not have some sort of Sing Star karaoke style gameplay in there somewhere, maybe even a dance mat too.

However, nothing would make me happier than if it turned out to be like some sort of Mortal Kombat clone, letting Danni Minogue turn into some sadistically toothy beast that can bite Simon Cowell in half, leaving only his high-waisted trousers wondering confusedly around the garish ITV set.

We can only dream!
