Nokia X5.jpgNokia have announced the launch of two new handsets today. While the Nokia X6 8GB is a reboot of the X6 handset that launched last year, albeit with smaller storage capabilities, the X5 is a brand new hand set focussed on entertainment.

The X5 is quite a unique handset for Nokia’s portfolio of phones. Square in shape, it features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, making it perfect for text-based services like messaging, email, Twitter and Instant Messaging. There’s also support for other social networks other than Twitter, including Facebook and MySpace. Shaking the phone will also give a message that tells the user how much unread mail they have.

Billed as an entertainment phone, there are dedicated music playback hardware buttons, as well as speakers designed for social, loud playback. The handset will ship with Ovi Music apps, including Comes With music, the unlimited music download service from Nokia, in some parts of the world.

Other features include a 5MP camera with LED flash, a 2GB microSD card that can be expanded to 32GB, and a day’s worth of music playback from the battery.

Due out in Indonesia in Autumn, it’s yet to have been given a firm release date elsewhere in the world. The current exchange rate would see it priced at around £140 based upon the Indonesian pricing were it ever to make it to the UK.

More news on this as we get it.
