"Google Me" to rival Facebook?

Google are rumoured to be trying their hand yet again at capturing the lucrative social-networking market. According to Digg’s Kevin rose credible sources are claiming that the search giants are readying “Google Me” to compete against the likes of Facebook.

Rose got the rumour mill churning with a single tweet:

“Ok, umm, huge rumour: Google to launch facebook competitor very soon “Google Me”, very credible source.”

Rick Klau, the developer behind Google’s Buzz service, is thought to be working on Google Me which could prove to be an advanced version of Google’s Profiles .

With Google Buzz and Google Wave never quite capturing the imagination of the web-using public, will it be third-time-lucky for Google Me?
