Both featuring interchangeable lenses, the NEX-5 has the lofty distinction of being the worlds smallest camera with an interchangeable lens. It is capable of taking 14.2 MP still photos, as well as shooting 1080i video and 3 inch LCD preview menu screen.

Other features include dual memory card support for Memory Stick and SDXC cards, as well as many imaging options, including Sweep Panorama mode.

The NEX-3 has similar specifications and features, but can only shoot video at a maximum resolution of 720p.

Three lenses will be compatible with both new Alpha cameras; a 16mm F/2.8 ‘pancake’ lens, a E 18-55mm F/3.5-5.6 zoom and E 18-200 F/3.5-6.3 zoom. While the pancake and 18-55 zoom lens will be available bundled in with the cameras, the 18-200 zoom will only be sold seperately.

Pricing is yet to be confirmed, but expect to see these in stores by June.
