bbc one.gifThe BBC are to begin a simulcast broadcast of their BBC One channel in high-definition from Autumn 2010. The Antiques Roadshow will have never looked better!

BBC One is Auntie’s flagship channel, hosting popular shows like Eastenders, The One Show and Strictly Come Dancing. As a simulcast broadcast, all the exact same programming as currently found on BBC One will make the jump to HD in tact.

The BBC HD channel that’s already broadcasting will stay in place, and act as a platform for the best of the rest of BBC content.

Danielle Nagler, Head of BBC HD, said: “HD is the future of television: people who have HD have clearly told us that they want more of their licence fee-funded content in HD. I’m delighted that the HD simulcast of BBC One will become available on satellite, on cable, and now also on Freeview’s new HD service. This is a key moment for us on the journey to HD becoming the norm for all our programmes and channels.

“Audiences have already been enjoying many BBC One programmes in HD on our existing HD channel and the arrival of BBC One simulcast in HD will make it easier for them to find the programmes they love in high definition. BBC HD – the most popular HD channel in the UK – will continue to show programmes from across all BBC channels.”

BBC One HD will be available to all Freeview, Freesat, Sky and Virgin Media viewers.

  • I think your blog is very good, very poetic, also very talented, hope you can pay attention to my blog, thank you for coming.

  • Brilliant! However, The Antiques Roadshow is one of the shows that has been filmed and shown in high def on BBC HD pretty much since it started.

    • The Antiques Roadshow theme tune used to haunt my Sunday evenings as a young whipper-snapper. When it chimed in it meant you knew the weekend was almost over and that it was back to school the next day!
