Turn-by-turn navigation rolled out to UK Android phones

US readers may already be revelling in the delights of turn-by-turn navigation on their Android handsets, but now UK Android phone owners can do a celebratory little robot dance too as it’s been rolled out now to us Brits too.

As well as the turn-by-turn directions, users of 4.1.1 Google Maps beta can now access directions in a list view, see Street View or satellite views, get real-time traffic, search for places to eat and also view search layers.

Nexus One owners can even voice activate a route through the universal search bar.

Looking sharp then, but keep in mind its limited to handsets running Android 1.6 and above, which is a bummer for HTC Hero owners left behind the pack with 1.5 after the repeatedly delayed Android updates from HTC.
