Nokia have announced the launch of the C3 at this morning’s Everyone Connect event. Featuring a full QWERTY keypad, it’s a Symbian S40-running budget smartphone.

Okay, so Symbian S40 isn’t the most exciting OS it could be running (it’s a bit like a watered down S60) but the price tag sure is enticing. Less than £80 will bag you this full QWERTY mobile, which Nokia hope will trump the INQ Chat 3G and Samsung Genio slide in the SMS messaging and social networking stakes.

Obviously a price like that comes with a few caveats; there is no 3G connectivity, a low res 2 megapixel camera and a low res 320×240 2.4 inch display. You’ll also have to fork out for a microSD card if you want to listen to your tunes, but at least a 3.5mm jack input means you wont need to pay extra for a bespoke pair of headphones. Wi-Fi is included for web browsing.

Expect to see some really cheap Pay As You Go tariffs for the Nokia C3 when it launches in the next few weeks.

Check out our gallery below for the first official pics of the Nokia C3. A tiny price tag makes for tiny press shots we suppose!

  • The FM is not working properly with C3. When the FM is ON, and keep on listening, after sometimes it will get resetting, which should not be happen.

  • There is no such thing as “Symbian S40”, S40 has nothing to do with Symbian. C3 is just a S40 phone.
