heathrow app.jpgUnless you’ve had your head in the sand for the last week or so, you’ll know that a certain Icelandic volcano has been causing flight travel chaos worldwide, with nearly all flights out of the UK grounded.

In an attempt to make the whole process a little easier for disgruntled passengers, Heathrow airport have today announced that they are going to be giving away the premium pro version of their Airport Guide app for free.

Usually priced £1.79, the app lets users book and locate transportation to the airport, look at info on check-in procedures and terminal news, access maps of Heathrow and, best of all, access detailed flight information updates and track flight progress.

It also contains six months of scheduled flight timetables for every airline at Heathrow as well as five-day weather forecasts for over 220 global locations.

‘We want to make it easy for our passengers to use Heathrow and putting the airport into their hands does this”, said Stephen Glenfield, Online Development Manager for Heathrow.

It may not get you home from the distant land you’re stranded in, but it’s a welcome gesture of good-will from Heathrow nonetheless, and will certainly be a good source of info in the coming weeks as the flight industry slowly resumes its normal service.

The offer runs until the end of May. Click here for more info.
