Sony Ericsson’s rumoured Kurara has broke cover, and it’s now going under the name Vivaz. A prematurely released statement has confirmed that the handset will be hitting “selected markets” in the first quarter of the year.

If you like your smartphone to give your digital camera a run for its money, then the Vivaz will be right up your alley. It’s packing in an 8.1 MP camera and impressive 720p HD video recording capability, the fruits of which can be uploaded straight to Picasa or You Tube. There’s also image stabilising, geotagging and continuous auto-focus functions built in.

With a similar feel to the Symbian S60 theme already running on the Satio, the touchscreen will be a 3.2 inch WVGA number. It’s all rounded off with APGS, Wi-Fi, 3G, TV out ( at VGA resolution) and a choice of four “cosmic” colours.

The Vivaz certainly looks to have enough pizzazz to set heads turning, if you can get past the ridiculous name that is. More news on this one soon.
