If independent films are your bag baby then this could be the phone for you – it comes with a complimentary quota of 60 a year. If not, then nevermind, it’s still a nice looking media based phone with all the features that you’d expect from Sony Ericsson’s Walkman range.

The independent movies can be accessed via the PlayNow Arena feature and users will also be able to access additional content via a direct link on the phone’s cross media bar. Think movie trailers, mini TV episodes, game previews and so on. Access to the BBC’s iPlayer is also included.

The phone has an 8.1-megapixel camera, with LED flash and face recognition. Connectivity wise you’re looking at quadband GSM, Wi-Fi, A-GPS and, of course, 3G.

The 2.6-inch screen has a resolution of 240×320 and, unlike other phones in the Walkman range, the W995 has a 3.5mm headphone socket, which is nice.

Price wise a RRP of £399, sim-free, has been bandied about, although a little search on Google indicates you might be able to shave a bit of this if you shop around. Best I could do was £329 on O2 PAYG. On a contract, it seems to be available across most of the networks – free on contracts ranging from £25 a month.

And in the words of Forrest Gump, “that’s all I have to say about that”.
