Here’s the whopping D3X, straight outta Nikon’s ‘Pro’ magazine. The spec sheet surfaced over the weekend, which includes a 24.5 megapixel sensor, and full-resolution shooting at five frames per second – necessitating a newly updated ‘EXPEED’ image processing system to keep pace.

It’s also got an ISO range of 100 – 1600, and will capture images in TIFF, JPG or NEF (RAW) file formats. Be warned though, each image could get as big as 138MB. You’ll need some serious memory card action to store those babies.

The D3X will go on sale in December and cost a whopping US$8000 (£5200 or so). Not sure how much top-end cameras usually cost, but that seems rather startlingly expensive. Start saving now, and you might be able to afford one next Christmas.
